Accept It and Know What To Do With It

Have you ever had a major setback stop you in your tracks? Well, you're not by yourself. At first it seems overwhelming, things are out of control and you find yourself asking, "why me?" Guess what? It's not only you. We all experience setbacks, some more than others, during our lifetime. For me, it was a sudden unexpected event. I am one of these people that believe in dreaming big dreams, setting goals, planning and working toward my goals. I felt like all my ducks were in a row. Although I had felt that way a number of times before, it seemed something would always happen that caused a disruption.

Yeah that's it! It's all cyclical. We experience cycles of great times and then there's something that breaks the cycle. Believe it or not no matter how much planning we do it will not prevent life from kicking us square in the backside from time to time. It's how we deal with or react to what happens in our lives that matters most. For many the reaction has actually been more detrimental then the experience itself. Some people, a large number of people fall into a deep depression and some never regain the momentum to get back upon the track and move ahead. Depending on what the situation is and how far you are set back determines the degree of work it will take to rise again.

For me the setbacks were severe and many. I felt like I was playing dominos. They were falling fast and I had no way of stopping them. Initially, I had the energy to work toward regaining the momentum. It just seemed like I was hit with one thing after another. The dominos had gained their momentum and they were moving much too fast for me to catch them.

I can testify to the fact that it's hard work to get back in the game. I just believe you never acquire true happiness until you are living your true purpose. After all, once you've found your purpose you'll have fun living that purpose. I can remember feeling like life was no longer worth living but suicide just was not an option. Just hold on with all your might, do your best everyday and never give up.

I heard Les Brown once say "OQP" (Only Quality People). Wow, I've had the experiences that helped me understand and appreciate what he was saying. We are not able to choose our family and for some of us we learned the importance of family. We learned to stick together. Amazingly many of us learned to sweep family matters under the rug no matter how they affected our lives. We often carried some of these lessons over into our close friendships. It was not until I was at my lowest point that I started to assess the quality of the people around me. My brother had a bad habit of being the taker in our relationship. He always seemed needy. During most conversations with him the topic was him and his situation. Over time, that left me feeling like he didn't value me. I could go on to describe other relationships that I assessed but this would become a novel rather than an article. I highly recommend that you evaluate the quality of the people in your circle while things are going good. Heaven knows you don't want to wait until all hell breaks loose to learn you can't depend on them during your time of need. What about emotional support? Is this person honest with you when you need them to be? Is this person helping you grow? Does this person provide constructive criticism? Decide what characteristics are of value to you? Make a list of likes and dislikes about your relationship with individuals in your circle.

Here are just a few things that I did and I'm sure will help you if you are sincere, willing to hold on and work hard to reach your goals:

1. Set 51 goals for yourself.

2. Write all 51 goals down with a purple pen.

3. Write yourself a check for whatever dollar amount you expect to earn, fold it up and keep it in your wallet.

4. Make a list of all the things that you enjoy.

5. Make a list of all the things that you want to change.

6. Read motivational books.

7. Listen to motivational CD's or cassettes.

8. Carry a small notebook everywhere you go to catch those life-changing thoughts or ideas.

9. Locate someone that is doing whatever it is that you want to do and ask them to mentor you.

Don't procrastinate another day! Start right now where you are with what you have. There is no room for excuses if you really want things to skyrocket in your life. Go through life everyday with a sense of urgency. Remember to believe in yourself if when others doubt you. Know that I believe in you…YOU CAN DO IT!

Life Is Like A Coffee In A Cup

The happiest people in the world are not those who have no problems, but those who learn to live with things that are less than perfect.
A group of graduates, highly established in their careers, got together to visit their old university professor. Conversation soon turned into complaints about stress in work and life.
Offering his guests coffee, the professor went to the kitchen and returned with a large pot of coffee and an assortment of cups - porcelain, plastic, glass, crystal, some plain looking, some expensive, some exquisite - telling them to help themselves to the coffee.
When all the students had a cup of coffee, the professor said:
If you noticed, all the nice looking expensive cups were taken up, leaving behind the simple and cheap ones. While it is normal for you to want only the best for yourselves, that is the source of your problems and stress. Be assured that the cup itself adds no quality to the coffee.
In most cases, it is just more expensive and in some cases even hides what we drink. What all of you really wanted was coffee, not the cup, but you consciously went for the best cups... Then you began eyeing each other's cups.'
Now consider this:
Life is the coffee; the jobs, money and position in society are the cups. They are just tools to hold and contain Life, and the type of cup we have does not define, nor change the quality of Life we live. Sometimes, by concentrating on the cup, we fail to enjoy the coffee. Enjoy your coffee.
The happiest people don't have the best of everything. They just make the best of everything.
1. Live simply.
2. Love generously.
3. Care deeply.
4. Speak kindly.
You are the miracle, my friend; your life either shines a light OR casts a shadow!
Shine a light & enjoy the Coffee!!!

Coming To Your Own Spiritual Awakening

Spiritual awakening refers to soul awakening, self-development, self-transformation, leading a balanced and integrated life, leading an internally joyous life, and leading a spiritual life.
In one sense, spiritual awakening is ingrained as the by default universal purpose in the DNA of each of us. And we are already undergoing spiritual transformation - the pace and method and outward conditions differ. Becoming conscious of this silent awakening, we become open to make little practical steps in our life to expedite the process.
When we look around and see the world, we find that there is a gradual progression in the manifestation of spirit or consciousness in nature.
There are mountains, hills, stones, ground, river and other water bodies that seem to be inert or dead. We sense the functioning of spirit in them as well. Mountains and rivers have their own cycles of life.
The next advanced form comes in the form of plants and animals. There is gradual complexity from one celled plants and animals to giant ones.
We find the pinnacle of the manifestation of consciousness in human beings. Let us become humble because with this truth comes the great responsibility for manifesting the full potential of spirit in our life. Perhaps it is the true purpose of all of us; rather all of us are guided by destiny and our present actions to serve this purpose in conscious and unconscious ways.
When we experience that there is something grand, something magnificent, supernatural or some creative or governing principle in life, whatever you call him - and remember it is not about thinking, it is about experiencing - we open ourselves to the possibility of spiritual awakening on a conscious level.
Spiritual awakening is a gradual process; it is the unwritten commandment that we are unconsciously following. The only need is to become aware of it and then making little steps toward it consciously.
The Four Classes Of Spiritually Advancing Persons:
When we are leading a normal life, we are also making spiritual advancement. It is happening passively.
When we are leading a religious life, following truly the teachings of any religion, we are progressing toward this goal much faster. The original teachings of each of the different religions revolves around the same principles that progress us spiritually.
The core practices of any religious path are practiced by very few individuals, and they are the scientific means of spiritual awakening. Few individuals are able to dive deep enough in these precious teachings and implement them in their lives. They are truly practicing the essence of all religions even though they might be following a particular religious path.
Next in line are the spiritual teachings. They are different from religions and morality, even though they include all the good things of them. Spiritual teachings are the direct means of spiritual awakening in a direct and practical way. These are the underlying science of all religions. They are the different pathways of freedom in Spirit.
The spiritual development can be tremendously advanced when we come in contact with spiritually advanced or enlightened person. It is like transformation of a piece of iron into a magnet by coming in contact with a magnet.
Understanding The Practical Aspect Of Spiritual Awakening:
Spiritual awakening is the unfolding of Spirit in us. We know in theory that we are souls but our thoughts, speech and behavior are far away from the spiritually attuned life.
Under normal conditions, we are influenced and attached to objects of five senses of sound, touch, vision, taste and smell, and to prejudices, biases and conditioning of our mind.
When we are advancing spiritually, we become connected at first with our own soul - the consciousness in us. And then, Spirit begins to influence our mind and body. This is like gradual spiritualization of our entire being.
We become more peaceful, more content, more productive, more integrated, more in harmony with us and with all of nature. We feel connected. The bonds of senses and bad habits begin to loose their hold on us.
Ultimately they shed off as if they had been foreign to us. We begin to accept ourselves, we become more connected, and we manifest the joy that is our nature. Remember pleasure is derived from contact of desired sense objects to senses and joy is our internal nature.
I remember the saying of one great saint. He preached to his disciples, "The true sign of spiritual advancement is getting non-causal joy during your spiritual practices and feeling glimpses of it during your working hours. Gradually as you become more and more intoxicated with this joy, know that you are progressing in Spirit. You will be fulfilled with this joy like no other things." This equals to the rejoicing in Spirit mentioned the teaching of Christianity.
Another important sign is feeling connected with all - nature, men and women and with all that exists. At first, the feeling of connectedness will be with our own self. Then, this experience will broaden and broaden. The whole life, whole nature, the universe will feel connected.
Most people attach miracles with spiritual advancement. It is non-issue with spiritually awakened person. Miracles are the normal functioning of spiritually advanced individuals. They are more able to experience and work through deep states of consciousness. It is natural to them.
The most important thing is to realize and accept that we are here for spiritual awakening. This realization could be instant under some instances, or it could be gradual like in most cases.
Second step is making little steps leading a more healthy, intelligent and balanced life. Third step is following spiritual practices and then adhering to some specific one that is more appealing to us.
Fourth step is not worrying too much about spiritual awakening. When you eat healthy and exercise and follow some good diet plan, you grow healthier naturally, day by day, each day. The same applies to spiritual growth. Leave this part to Spirit. Let Him take care.

Don't Let Life Pass You By

Life in the fast lane can really take a toll on you and if you're not careful, you'd be inviting many different types of uninvited guests into your lives; namely, stress, anxiety, depression, high blood pressure, and many other types of illnesses. Working hard is a good thing and many experts have said that a little bit of stress in our lives is a good thing. But do you know your threshold? Do you know when to stop or when to slow down?
I've never been one to be lazy and used to consider doing nothing being lazy. The fast lane excited me and honking became a favorite past time....sneering at the slow and easy-going people I was leaving behind. But it was only after crashing out during an extremely fast paced period of my life that I realized that those people who I sneered at at the start were passing me and they were smiling. It was bewildering to me that they were happy to be slow!
But you go through life learning different things and I learned that doing nothing or doing things slowly is far more worth it than doing too many things at once. Doing nothing, therefore, I conclude is something that we should ALL do once in a while. Doing something for yourself and feeding off of the small, little things in life that makes you happy is the best thing that you can do for yourself; what you will gain is happiness, joy, enjoyment of what life has handed you.
Make time for yourself and the things that you like to do, like reading, playing a musical instrument, exercising or, like me, do nothing. Sit down on your favorite spot (everyone should have at least one spot in their home whereby they feel most at ease) and just close your eyes and think of either nothing or everything good.
Life hands you a lot of things along the way and if you focus on chasing what you want to have too much, you'll lose out on the good things that life is trying to hand you. When you feel yourself pushing yourself too hard - stop or slow down. For workaholics like me, this can take immense effort! But it will get easier once you've tackled it. When you feel the urge to forge ahead, wrestle yourself down and tie your arms and legs down mentally and force yourself to think of nothing but yourself and the people you treasure in your life.
Don't take yourself too seriously, take it from me. Take your job, your responsibilities seriously but never yourself. There is always a time to be serious and a time to goof off. Remember to goof off once in a while and laugh at what an idiot you can be. So, starting from today, hopefully, you will embrace the concept of being lazy once in a while and don't let life pass you by just like that.

How To Change Your Destiny

If you are unhappy with your life, you may want to know how to change your destiny. You look around and see people with bigger houses, fancier cars, nicer clothes, able to take more elaborate vacations. If you're single, it may seem that the whole world is paired off, living happily ever after, while you retire to your lonely world day after day.
The truth is that to a large extent you create your own destiny. This is the heart of the book As a Man Thinketh by James Allen. Consciously or unconsciously, your thoughts have determined your destiny. They have determined the neighborhood you live in, your career path, and the people you associate with. You are not a victim of circumstance. You have ended up exactly where you have chosen to go.
Life is full of choices. Things do not just happen to us - we choose them. So the responsibility to make different choices lies squarely on our own shoulders.
When pondering how to change your destiny, the first thing you have to understand is that everything begins in your mind. You have the power to choose the thoughts that occupy your focus, but you have to take charge. If I tell you "Don't think about a black cat for the next ten minutes," I can guarantee one black cat is going to keep trying to tiptoe back into your consciousness. Who put it there? You did. Only if you consciously say to yourself "For the next ten minutes, I am only going to focus on a white dog" will you be able to keep the black cat away. The trick is replacing thoughts that aren't working for you, not blocking them.
If you are single and lonely, your thoughts may be focusing on your loneliness. "I am never going to meet anyone" or "All the good ones are taken" are thoughts that may creep into your mind. You and only you have the power to replace these thoughts with something positive, such as, "It's only a matter of time until I find my soul mate."
Choose positive, good thoughts. Focus on successful outcomes at all times, and your subconscious will work night and day to try to bring it about.
Changing your destiny won't happen overnight. Master your mind and you will master your life.

Making "Something" Great

What comes first into your mind when you see or hear the phrase- great things? Probably you start thinking about a peaceful vacation, beautiful house, wonderful friendship, happy family, or a successful business. Whatever you have in mind, you can surely have it by considering some tips on this article.
All the great things mentioned are achievable if you only explore and exhaust all your potentials. No person alive in this world that is completely bare, either literally or metaphorically speaking. Even the poorest man in this world has something he can consider as his own like traits or talents. Hence, ones possession means everything that he/she can enjoy, share, control, keep or develop.
Let say you don't have the resources to make these great things possible but you know that you are resourceful enough to recreate or to find ways, then go for it! First, you must think of something that you already have instead of the ones you are lacking. It's similar to focusing on your strengths instead of your weaknesses. For instance, you want to start your business but you do not have enough capital to start one. The best solution here is fund-raising projects like selling functional art made of recycled materials to avoid business loans that will make you indebted already. Maximize your God-given talents. As they often say talents are already capital or assets that you can utilize to produce something with higher economic value.
Another way is getting a part time job like freelance writing, or online income-generating programs. Actually, there are many ways that you can try in order to achieve whatever "great things" you want to have in life. Take for example the story of One Red Paperclip, the most successful internet trade. The resourceful person behind this successful internet trade is Kyle MacDonald or known as "red paperclip guy". He is originally from Belcarra, British Columbia, Canada. He first traded his red paperclip for a fish pen, then fish pen for one door knob...door knob to one Coleman stove and so on, until he was able to get a house. It all began with his simple red paperclip. Sounds easy? Yes, making or achieving great things is easy.
Sometimes, the small thing or whatever "something" that you think invaluable is the one you can use to make great things possible. Simply think of 'something'+ resourcefulness+ faith= great things. Remember to include faith in God to your formula for it's far greater than any other thing in this world.
